TODAY WAS MY LAST DAY OF HIGH SCHOOL EVER!!!!! (‘:'(
With this, many questions arise, from people that I knew as a child to those that have helped me along the latter part of this journey through high school.
Especially since you guys know about the race, I have been questioned left and right about it. So many people want to know WHY in the world I have decided to do this c r a z y thing. And you guys deserve to know this answer, since after all, I am asking for your support.
BUT…
This is a question that I must find the answer to myself, before I am ready to explain to any one person, so that is what I have been spending my time doing lately. Ever since I was a little kid, I have been saying “I want to go to Haiti!”, and I didn’t mean for a vacation. I’m not exactly going to Haiti, but where I am going, I am going for the same reason: to preach the gospel and make disciples of Jesus. This desire is one that the Lord birthed in my spirit long before I was even sure it was there. This desire has never left. I feel this calling to do my part in fulfilling the Great Commission stronger now than ever before, which is ultimately why I am going on this great adventure.
Salvation is the absolute greatest gift that anyone could ever receive. Of course, God is the one that gives it, but somewhere along the way, someone had to share that gift with me, and so many of you beautiful people reading this cared enough about me to do so. You guys have played a crucial part in my walk with the Lord, and I am so thankful.
But what about them?
How can they know if they haven’t heard? So many people have absolutely no clue of the hope that is available to them, and that breaks me to the core.
Someone has to tell them, and so here I am saying “Send me.”, and that is exactly what the Lord is doing.
This explains why I am going to the nations, but you may wonder why with the World Race.
Salvation isn’t a one time thing. We were saved, are being saved, and will be saved on the final day. Salvation was meant to be a journey, a time in which you spend walking with the Lord, learning His ways, loving how He loves, and seeing how He sees so that we may look more like Jesus with every step that we take. The World Race commits to not only teaching us how to spread the Good News while we are away, but showing us what it looks like to be a true follower of Christ, and to follow His leading, no matter where it takes us, so that we can make disciples when we come back home, too.
I believe the Lord has lead me to the race because He wants to grow me all the while.
I have already gained close to 50 new pals my age that all share the same desire, to know Him and to make Him known, and I am so excited to go on this journey with each one of them.
Nine months is a long time, but I intend to take advantage of it and solely focus on the Lord and what He would have for me. I believe that while I am away I will be given the opportunity to make disciples, and I hope to come back looking just a little bit more like Jesus, or a whole lot. 😉
I want to thank all of you guys for your support up to this point. For those of you who are hearing about this for the first time, I ask that you would pray and ask the Lord if He would have you support me financially as I go to share the good news.
Love,
Megan 🙂
